How to check an INCI list without a photo

Use manual ingredient entry when a label is hard to photograph, and keep the original list intact for a clearer analysis.

When manual entry helps

Curved bottles, embossed lettering and tiny fold-out labels can be difficult to capture. If you can read the text but cannot get a clear image, enter the complete list manually. You can also copy a list from the manufacturer, provided you verify that it matches your exact product.

Keep the names, remove unrelated copy

Copy the ingredient declaration as written. Keep compound ingredient names together and retain separators between ingredients. Do not mix directions, packaging claims, warnings or the product description into the list. Translating or shortening unfamiliar names can make them harder to identify.

Review before you save

Read the entered text against the original once more, especially around line breaks. Elasal performs manual ingredient analysis on your device. A typed list is still only as complete as the source: if you cannot read a word, find a reliable copy rather than filling in a plausible ingredient.

Your practical checklist

  • Match the exact product variant.
  • Preserve ingredient names and order.
  • Check copied text for accidental line-break omissions.
